What if Roy Jones Jr. had been trained in MMA from an early age instead of boxing? In his prime, Roy had otherworldly speed and reflexes, and I think he would have been just as dominant in MMA as he was in boxing.

Prime Roy Jones was one of the best athletic boxer. Except prime Tyson I don't remember any other boxers who could match his reflexe, speed, power and explosiveness.

I don't get it... if he had trained since childhood, it stands to reason his athletic gifts could easily translate into a solid ground game?

Pretty much impossible to tell, people often do, in fact have completely different amount of talent, knack, predisposition, or however you call it, for different things.
No matter what A level athletes lore dickriders are trying to sell you.

MMA has NEVER had an A-level athlete on the level of a prime Roy.
I don't think MMA has ever had an A-level athlete on the level of Pacquiao, Tyson, or Roy.

I'm more of a fan of Roy Jones Jr the rapper, not the boxer.
He was a good boxer but he really missed his calling not starting rap earlier.

He would have made way less money, but he'd probably have been a phenom at any combat sports he went into. Dude was other worldly.

True, but he made much better reads than Tyson. RJJ was a freak

What if Victor Gracie had trained Boxing from a young age? As a young man he had phenomenal hand speed and good power.

His chin would be pretty elite by UFC standards in his prime. Like significantly more durable than GSP, who is about decent durability by elite standards.

Hard to say ..
Its two different sports...
Its like an Ethiopian long distance runner ( MMA ) and sprinter Usain Bolt ( Boxing)...there both running sports (combat sports) but completely different in many ways
What if Usain Bolt trained long distance running instead of sprinting how good would he be...
We simply dont know ..

Please. GSP literally survived flush headkicks to the temple and still won.
Roy Jones got knocked out by the first solid punch he ever took in his career, and then became a KO highlight reel for opponents once he was found out.
